Levesque Came to Play
2024-12-05The Greyhounds took on the Eurekas
20 seconds were all that were needed to get the scoring started last night when Derick Levesque had an end to end rush that ended with his shot just squeaking through Jamie Wutke in the Eurekas goal as the Greyhounds took an early lead. The game wasn't going to be as run and gun as that though and things settled for a while.
Levesque was a little more precise 10 minutes later at 6:05 when he roofed his shot to make it 2-0 Greyhounds. Leighton Yeo, back in the lineup for the Eurekas for the rest of the season, got his scoring going late in the first to give the Eurekas some hope after spending most of the period in their own zone. However the Greyhounds put together some effective passing plays, one that ended with Scott Stewart scoring his second of the season and the period ended with the Greyhiunds up 3-1.
Glen MacDougall took a pass from Leighton midway through the second and was given all day to walk in. He measured up his shot and put the puck into the top corner to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Eurekas hopes were dashed 3 minutes later when Nick Marshall made a great pass across the ice to Levesque for his second hat trick of the season. Derick would then hit the empty net from his own end to make it 4 goals on the night and 10 on the season, a Nomad Hockey League high for him.
The Greyhounds victory moves them into a tie for 4th with the Lions, while the Eurekas are still searching for ways to find games, and hoping to find some more before the Christmas break.
