Tigers Are So Hot Right Now
2025-01-14Tigers vs Norsemen. The rematch
After the Norsemen trounced the Tigers 7-2 before Christmas, Norm Gallant vowed that he would have his vengeance, in this year or the next. Last night he rallied his Tigers and they came onto the ice with grit and determination.
90 seconds into the game, Darren Ells welcomed Phil Sprague back into the lineup by bombing one past him. Future All-Star Dan Keays with a solo effort, doubled it to 2-0 Tigers a couple minutes later. Then the teams met at centre for the faceoff and signed a peace treaty. No goals to be scored again that period, and they held to that.
The second period continued the trend until Josh Stevens had had enough. Fresh off a nasty high stick right below the eye in some other hockey, he double dipped with the double rip. 2 shots in 15 seconds, 2 goals.
Ron Beaton would give the Tigers the 3-2 lead after a point shot from Norm Gallant made it through with 10:47 to play and he picked up the rebound. The goals were coming quickly, but then the goalies said "screw you" (probably), and shut the door.
With the Norsemen net empty, Blake Whebby, famous for scoring when one team is short a goalie, this time would score on the net with a goalie in it by batting the puck out of the air to tie the game and force a shootout,
The Norsemen would go first. Josh Stevens opening it up...by being shut down. Dan Keays for the Tigers...goal! Connor Tousignant...nope. Cobee MacNaughton...also nope. Blake Whebby... must score to keep it going..... stoned by Nick Comeau. Tigers win! Tigers win! Tigers win!
The Tigers. They did win.
