Norman McDangles Leads Le Tigres

Norm Gallant with a display of elite defensive prowess
Tigers vs Greyhounds
The Tigers and Greyhounds had game 2 on Tuesday night with the Greyhounds happy to have a more full lineup than the skeleton crew that lost big to the Aurora last week. The Tigers were still riding the high of Norm Gallant’s epic goal vs the Lions.
Greg Delano tried a short side shot 15 seconds into the game and he missed, but he picked up the rebound and passed it in front to Bryan Gillis. Gillis would ab e had a tap in were it not for Ron Beaton’s quick stick in front.
Logan MacLean got his first shot against 2 minutes in off a Kurt Thibault rush, and it was a good shot which Logan needed to be sharp on, but he was and made the save.
The Tigers got an early power play and they worked the Greyhounds hard. There were at least 4 good scoring chances, but they couldn’t find that pivotal first goal. That honour would come 5 minutes later. The Tigers broke up the Greyhounds play and went to clear the zone but Nick Roache kept it in. He shot thenouck and Drew LeFrank got a stick on it to deflect it in.
Greg Delano and Bryan Gillis got a 2 on 1 against Norm Gallant a minute later. Delano held the puck and Norm played the pass. The pass however, wasn’t played by Norm as it went through and Gillis only couldn’t score because Josh McCarther decided to play Norm’s position and break up the pass with his stick. Seeing that he was working hard in the net, the Tigers forwards decided to help. Aiden Camphorst took a shot from a tough angle with Logan impersonating McCarther, his stick ready for a poke check, however the pass was never made and the puck was in the back of the net. The goal was Aiden’s first in the league and a game tying goal.
Brandon Crowell had a nice Normesque toe drag but his backhand wasn’t good enough to beat Logan. Ron Beaton was needed to get it past MacLean. Allan Beaton circled the net and came in front, taking a stick to the feet, he was going down when he got the puck to Ron. Ron made a good move around Logan and the Tigers were up 2-1.
On to the second period with momentum, the Tigers added to their lead early, it was a 2 on 1 and Aiden a Camphorst was at it again, this time a nicer snipe after the Greg Renouf pass to him.
The Tigers were up 3-1 with nearly a whole period to go, and the Tigers nearly made it 4-1 but Kurt Thibault’s shot would go behind a sprawled Logan and miss the yawning cage.
Then the Wagon’s wheels fell off. The Tigers got the loose puck of Kurt’s Miss and fired it wide of the goal. It rimmed around out of the zone. Speedy Greg Delano and Glenn Boyce raced for the puck. It was a tie but Kyle Gouthro was there to collect the puck and he walked in looking like he was going to cut across the net, he instead shot low and it went under McCarther to make it 3-2.
With 7:17 left, Connor MacPherson made a beauty pass by Glenn Boyce on to the tape of Drew LeFrank. Drew deked to the backhand as McCarther got caught and the puck went in as the net came off its pegs.
Tied up, the Aiden Camphorst looked to make an impact once more. This time he went from a double goal night to a double minor penalty. The Greyhounds chance to tie it up with up to 4 minutes of PP time and 6:38 of game time. But no, fuck that idea, let’s go to the shootout they said, so we did.
We would need 5 shooters aside because despite Allan Beaton thinking he had scored at the start of the 4th round, the ref said he hit it twice, so no goal. Ron, trying to prove he is the better of the Beatons, would seal the deal for the Tigers with a beauty fake shot and deke that left him with an empty net to shoot at. The Tigers taking the extra point vaults them into 2nd place while they await results from the other games this week. There could very well be a lot of movement in the standings this week as the Aurora play the Eurekas tonight and the Norsemen face the Evergreens tomorrow.
