Trevor Pate stops an Allan Beaton wraparound attempt

The Tigers and Greyhounds braved some winter conditions to make it to their game Thursday night.

With the Canada vs USA women's Rivalry series taking place in Halifax, and the snow falling heavily, the Tigers only had 2 men on their bench as the puck dropped for their game vs the Greyhounds.  The Greyhounds had just over two lines, so this one was looking like a Greyhounds win based on numbers alone.

The Greyhounds did indeed open the scoring when Michael Lawless took a Derick Levesque pass and put it by the blocker of Nick Comeau.  Comeau plays so often for other teams that he must have forgotten that the Tigers are his actual team, and he wore a black jersey on to the ice instead of Tigers orange.

Cobee MacNaughton took a nice stretch pass from Dan Keays and went in on a breakaway.  Cobee went to the backhand to beat Trevor Pate as he evened the score.

Then Nick Comeau went to play a puck and gave it right up to Greyhounds beauty Keegan Lewis.  Keegan took a shot on goal but not until Comeau had gotten back to the net.  The puck was a classic Lewis Laser (TM).  The puck knuckled end over end, fooling Comeau as it went off his glove, off the post, and in for Keegan's second of the season.

Derick Levesque came into the Tigers zone with speed but Kenny Shea was not down for it.  Shea tripped Levesque and saved a breakaway.  The Tigers went to the penalty kill.  Michael Lawless got open in the slot, took a pass and with just him and Comeau staring each other down, Lawless ripped a wrister to the top corner.  Comeau pulled out a vintage windmill and abso-fucking-lutely made a massive save.

Another shot came into the net but Justin Langille got it and tee'd up a clapper to clear the zone.  Greg Moffat, having just arrived to the game late after playing a game in his military league, stepped in the way of the clearing attempt.  Whether it was wit intent or not, Greg was not in a headspace to be able to clarify because the puck hit him hard and he let out a groan.  He got to the bench and took off his glove to find a bloody mess inside.  We all thought he had lost his fingernail, but no, his middle finger had split at the tip.

It was at this point that I lost track of a bunch of what happened in the game as Greg sat down and hit the start/stop button on the clock while I went in search of the first aid kit, which I was ultimately unable to access.  Long story shot, I got Greg sorted as best I could and came back to finish timekeeping the period.  When it ended I grabbed Greg's gear from the bench and Andrew MacDonald and Keegan Lewis helped out with the clock in my absence as I helped Greg get himself out of his gear and on his way to the hospital.

As I returned to the timekeeper's box after running around for 15 minutes, Keegan Lewis was holding my camera attempting a selfie.  I'll post some of his shots later.

There were a few goals in my absence and it was no longer 2-1 for the Greyhounds but 4-2.  To cut to the chase, the Greyhounds continued to hold the bulk of the play, but the Tigers acquitted themselves well, eventually managing 3 goals with Cobee MacNaughton, Allan Beaton, and Dan Keays, being their goal scorers.  The Greyhounds would score 7 with their final goal with just 1 second left in the game.  Their goal scorers were Scott Stewart with the hatty, Michael Lawless with two, and Keegan Lewis and Nick Marshall each scoring once.

Hopefully Moffat got his finger taken care of in a reasonable amount of time last night and he can't get back on the ice for playoffs.
