Osprey vs Tigers

The Osprey and Tigers played their make-up game on Monday night following a weather postponement.  The game was at 6pm on Family Day, so it wound up being the best attended regular season winter season game in years.

I'm gonna cut right to the chase here; I had a busy day and am not going to give this article to full treatment, but let's give it a little flavour.  The Tigers were rolling 2 lines, and that meant the Crowell/Thibault combo was going to be out there half of the night for the Tigers, not ideal for the Osprey.

Only 1:12 into the game, the Osprey fears were realized when Brandon Crowell got loose and sniped low blocker side to give the Tigers the lead.
But then there was a whole lotta nothing happening.  The game was on the big ice and the teams were playing like they didn't like the big ice.  Sure we had some saves, but nothing too consequential.  The Tigers were looking like the better team.  Then we hit the last minute.  Rohan Dempsey took a shot the bounced around off Josh McCarther and found it's way into the net with 26 seconds left in the period.

The Osprey got another one just 18 seconds later, the same man, Rohan and for the second time in a row, Matt Simpson had the primary assist.  The assist was a big one for the Osprey captain as it was his 100th NHL point, in just his 53rd game.

Greg Renouf got the Tigers back to level 2 minutes in with a wrister the beat Matt Baird.  The Osprey were on their back heels, but the Tigers couldn't get another, and Scott Stewart was sitting on the back door to receive a nice pass from Josh Stevens and the Osprey were up.  Then Rohan Dempsey got a breakaway and he roofed his shot to make it 4-2.  Shane Whitman got one of those back for the Tigers, but Josh Stevens hit the empty net and sealed the deal.  The Osprey will ba back in action tonight against the Norsemen as they look to get the win and a confirmation of a top 2 finish.  The Tigers play the Evergreens and look to get back on a roll.
